nothing great abt it...eventhough i didnt know it but my cousin explained it to me...

the logic is simple...

say the number u've chosen is 54321...and the number u came up with after rearranging the digits is 12345

now if u deduct the smaller of the two from the larger one, the answer u get has to have a multiple of 9 as the total of all its digits...(41976 in this case)

u circle one of those digits ( say, 1 in this case) and type in the remaining...u add all the digits, except the one u've circled and find out what do u need to add to reach the next multiple of 9...the difference between the next multiple of 9 and the sum of the digits that u've typed in is the number u've circled...

e.g. if u type in 4976, the number u've circled is 3 (4+9+7+6 = 26...the next multiple of 9 is 27...27 - 26 = 1)

this doesnt work if the number u've cirlced is zero and that's the reason why they ask u not to circle zero !!
