[itsdifferent] Boss--- an Example...

spend some time to read this. Really worth it

Scientists at the Rocket launching station in Thumba, were in the habit of
working for nearly 12 to 18 hours a day. There were about Seventy such
scientists working on a project. All the scientists were really frustrated
due to the pressure of work and the demands of their boss but everyone was
loyal to him and did not think of quitting the job.

One day, one scientist came to his boss and told him - Sir, I
have promised to my children that I will take them to the
exhibition going on in our township. So I want to leave the
office at 5 30 pm.

His boss replied - OK.. you are permitted to leave the office
early today.

The Scientist started working. He continued his work after
lunch. As usual he got involved to such an extent that he
looked at his watch when he felt he was close to completion. The
time was 8.30 p.m

Suddenly he remembered of the promise he had given to his
children. He looked for his boss,, he was not there. Having
told him in the morning itself, he closed everything and left
for home.

Deep within himself, he was feeling guilty for having
disappointed his children.

He reached home. Children were not there. His wife alone was
sitting in the hall and reading magazines. The situation was
explosive, any talk would boomerang on him.

His wife asked him - Would you like to have coffee or shall I
straight away serve dinner if you are hungry.

The man replied - If you would like to have coffee, i too will
have but what about Children???

Wife replied- You don't know - Your manager came at 5 15 p.m
and has taken the children to the exhibition.

What had really happened was...

The boss who granted him permission was observing him working
seriously at 5.00 p.m. He thought to himself, this person will
not leave the work, but if he has promised his children they
should enjoy the visit to exhibition. So he took the lead in
taking them to exhibition

The boss does not have to do it everytime. But once it is done,
loyalty is established.

That is why all the scientists at Thumba continued to work
under their boss eventhough the stress was tremendous.

By the way, can you hazard a guess as to who the boss was?????

[itsdifferent] Now e-tickets from Railways

Doing away with the need for carrying the regular hard paper ticket, Railways would be launching its E-ticketing scheme in up and down Kalka-New Delhi Shatabdi trains from August 12 for now .

In this scheme, the photo identity card of the traveller along with the printout of the electronic reservation slip (ERS) would constitute the authority to travel on the train, an official release said on Tuesday.

The service can be availed by the customer from the Web site www.irctc.co.in duly selecting the 'E-ticket' option after login.

While booking, the passenger has to give the details of any one of the photo identity cards -- voter identity, passport, PAN card, driving licence, central/state government issued employees ID cards, and non-Indians can submit their passport.

The payment options for the scheme on the Web site will consist of Internet banking facilities offered by 15 major banks in India and also the existing cash card payment option it said, adding that the passenger has to necessarily carry the same photo identity card as given during the booking along with the ERS while on journey.

The E-ticket can be cancelled only through Internet till chart preparation of the train (which is normally four hours before the scheduled departure of the train), and cancellation is not allowed at face-to-face railway counters, it said.

[itsdifferent] managers....

Two hobbyists get into their balloon for an excursion. After a while, the wind unexpectedly picks up, and the balloon goes out of control.

The two balloonists, with great effort, manage to keep the balloon stable, upright, and away from power lines. But they are lost.

With more effort, they get the balloon near the ground. While floating over a country road, they see a man walking below. One of the balloonists calls down to him:

"We're lost! Can you tell us where we are?"

The man thinks for a while, looks down, looks up, looks down again, stares into space for a minute, and then cries out:

"You're in a balloon!"

The wind picks up, and the balloon floats off. After a moment, one balloonist says to the other:

"That man must be a manager."

"Why?"

"Three reasons.

First, he took a long time to answer.

Second, he was perfectly correct.

.

.

.

.

.

.

.

Third, his answer was perfectly useless!"
